Long-time Sigma pool partner Active Shipping of Istanbul, Turkey, will deliver its first Suezmax newbuilding “Nordic Thunder” into Heidmar’s Blue Fin Tankers pool next month.
The high-specification, economic 157,000 deadweight 48m beam vessel will complete construction at Hyundai Samho mid-May. With the delivery of the vessel, the Blue Fin fleet will grow to 18 ships contributed by seven pool partners.
Established in 2007, Heidmar’s Blue Fin Suezmax pool fits strategically and tactically between Heidmar’s leading position in the Aframax markets and its nimble foothold with ten VLCCs in its Seawolf Tankers pool.
Active Shipping inaugurated its partnership with Heidmar with the delivery of its then first LR2 newbuilding “Fair Seas” into Sigma Tankers in 2008. The following year, its sisters “Pacific Sky”, “Riverside” and “Southport” entered the pool, where all the vessels continue to trade within the 43-strong Sigma LR2/Aframax fleet.
Established in 1994, Active Shipping is a family-run shipowner and manager with control of 1.4m deadweight of tonnage in both the dry bulk and tanker segments.
