Sigma Secures Conti LR2 Sisters

December 16, 2013

Heidmar is very pleased to announce the addition of a new pool member and two more LR2 vessels to its Sigma Tankers Pool. Conti Shipping of Munich has committed the “Alpine Alaska” (to be renamed “Conti Alaska”) and the “Alpine Athelia” (to be renamed “Conti Madagaskar”) to Heidmar’s growing Aframax/LR2 fleet.

Both ships are 2009 built, 105,291 deadweight and fully epoxy coated. They will be renamed prior to entering the pool in the first quarter of 2014. Sigma Tankers has been growing its LR2 market presence in anticipation of a strengthening global product tanker market.

Speaking about the new arrivals, Heidmar’s Sigma Tankers Pool MD, Glenn Gronseth, said; “We are delighted to welcome Conti Shipping to the Sigma Tankers family. They are first class owners who are uncompromising in their commitment to the highest standards of operational excellence, efficiency and reliability.”

“These are qualities shared by all Sigma Pool members and which deserve and demand peerless performance, top-tier earnings and total reporting transparency from their commercial managers. Sigma Tankers continues to meet and exceed such demands, making the pool the best possible trading platform for owners of Aframax and LR2 tonnage.”
