Heidmar Names Conti as Handy Pool Partner

Heidmar has identified Conti Shipping of Germany as its founding partner in a new handymax tankers pool.
TradeWinds first reported Heidmar’s launch of a sixth pool in handymaxes in April. At the time, it remained unnamed and no details were known on the partner.
Heidmar has now identified the new pool on its website as Marlin Tankers Inc., with four Conti vessels — the 37,600-dwt Conti Agulhas, Conti Benguela, Conti Equator and Conti Greenland (all built 2008) — committed.
Heidmar chief executive Ben Ognibene noted this week that Conti first joined Heidmar through the Sigma Tankers Aframax pool in 2014.
Two long-range-two (LR2) tankers — the 105,000-dwt Alpine Alaska and Alpine Madagascar (both built 2009) — entered at the time had originally been scheduled to join earlier but spent three years on charter with ST Shipping instead.
Heidmar has also disclosed that it has taken delivery of the VLCC newbuilding Shanghai into its Seawolf Tankers pool. The 319,800-dwt unit is being entered by GC Tankers of Singapore.
