Heidmar operates 8 tankers, some of which are time-chartered tonnage with lower base rates and profit sharing. Full disclosure and transparency are key in these arrangements.
Heidmar becomes a 25% shareholder in Protank, a ship operating company, gaining commercial control of 5 product tankers.
Due to creative and innovative solutions to ship Orimulsion (70% crude, 30% water + emulsifier), Heidmar is awarded the first test cargo from Venezuela to the UK.
Heidenreich Marine (UK) Ltd. opens office on Old Bond Street in London. Starting with two employees, the office is a crucial cornerstone in the Company’s execution of its chartering strategy – triangulating around the Atlantic.
Heidmar signs a contract with a super oil major for moving black products on Panamaxes from UK/Mediterranean to the U.S. The Company recognizes early on the value of long-term relationship with first class charterers.
Heidmar and its partners purchase the M/T Heidmar Spirit, a 63,000 dwt, built in 1982. The vessel trades for Heidmar until its scrapping in November 2003.
Heidenreich Marine (Far East) Pte Ltd. opens in Singapore. The office would become a crucial component in the company’s global chartering success.
The Heidmar-Pleaides Panamax pool, founded in 1998, changes its name to Star Tankers Inc. The Pool, now open to other third party owners, is an immediate success.
Heidmar launches a state-of-the-art web-based voyage management system: www.efleetwatch.com. The software is light years ahead of the competition and further underscores Heidmar's commitment to excellence and full transparency for its Pool partners.
Heidmar opens the Caracas, Venezuela office. Over 100 cargoes a year will be fixed by the Caracas staff. The office closes in 2007 with the staff joining Heidmar’s Norwalk office.
Heidmar forms Dorado Tankers Pool Inc., a clean product tanker pool for 34-55,000 dwt vessels. Expanding on its success in Star, Heidmar focuses on the clean product segments.
Heidmar enters the lightering service in the USG and opens Heidenreich Lightering Services Inc. in Houston. This unit provides a much needed addition to the USG Lightering market as well as strengthening the Company’s relationships with chartering customers.
Starting initially with 3 Aframaxes, Heidmar establishes Sigma Tankers Inc.. With support from key partners, Heidmar focuses on the large and fragmented Aframax segment.
Heidmar establishes Marida Tankers Inc., operating tankers 5,000-18,000 DWT within Northern Europe. Many of Heidmar’s existing Pool partners invest in the smaller vessels, without a commercial strategy, which presents an opportunity for Heidmar.
Morgan Stanley acquires Heidmar Inc. The acquisition further distinguishes Heidmar among its peers.
Cardiff Marine’s Ice 1A Aframaxes, M/T Bonita and M/T Montego, join Sigma Tankers marking Heidmar’s entry into the Baltic Aframax ice market. The vessels achieve record breaking winter freight rates and earnings from Sigma.
Heidmar Lightering Inc. is sold to OSG. Heidmar sharpens its strategy to focus on the operation of its Pools.
Heidmar establishes Blue Fin Tankers Inc., a Suezmax tanker pool with time chartered tonnage from Heidmar and direct pool participation from long-time Heidmar supporter, COSCO Dalian.
4 Active LR2 newbuildings deliver to Sigma Tankers marking Heidmar’s entry into the LR2 markets. The vessels establish Heidmar as a growing LR2 operator and Sigma as a diversified worldwide Pool.
Hartmann delivers two Universal newbuilding Suezmaxes to Blue Fin Tankers. The addition of the two vessels to the relatively young Pool firmly marks Blue Fin’s spot on the map of top Suezmax operators.
Shipping Pool Investors Inc. purchases 49% stake in Heidmar from Morgan Stanley. Heidmar management purchases a 2% stake. The transaction diversifies Heidmar’s shareholding with support from a cargo owner and tonnage provider.
Heidmar’s Marida Tankers Pool and W-O Shipping's Yamuna and Ganges pools form a joint venture to commercially manage small tankers.
Heidmar establishes the Seawolf Tankers VLCC pool and time charters its first VLCC – M/T Solana from Cardiff Marine. Completing its coverage of all crude segments, the formation creates synergies between all Heidmar's dirty pools that helps generate leading performance.
With the dirty spot markets bouncing along at historical lows, Heidmar Pools record the third highest vessel deliveries in company history as owners seek cover in cash healthy Pools.
Private equity-backed Ridgebury builds its Blue Fin presence to six Suezmax vessels. The volatility in spot dirty markets drives interest from new market participants in Heidmar's crude Pools.
Following a successful 5 year joint venture, Heidmar sells its interest in Womar Holdings to BW Shipping and continues to focus on its core segments – Handy size Product Carriers through VLCCs.
Heidmar expands in the products segment with the introduction of its Handy tanker pool, Marlin Tankers. Co-founded with Conti Shipping of Munich both Heidmar, and Conti will each enter two vessels into the Pool the summer of 2015. With its chartering centered in London the Pool will provide more scale, and exposure with Heidmar's existing products customers in the Atlantic.
Heidmar celebrates 30 years in business. The company's unique history in ownership, technical management, software development, timecharter and derivatives trading has helped it develop a broad, and deep level of service unparalleled in the management of tanker Pools.
Heidmar expands into the drybulk markets with its affiliation with New York-based TBS Logistics. The company provides the template, mechanics, and dry version of eFleetWatch to help propel TBS as a provider of first class pool management services to the struggling drybulk markets.
